Q: I received my mammogram results back and although it was categorized as a BI-RAD category 0, my doctor found an oval-shaped density in my left breast tissue. Does this mean I have breast cancer?
A: First off, a BI-RAD score of 0 means the study is incomplete. If your BI-RAD score had been a 3, 4 or 5 there would be cause for concern. Instead, the X-ray may have been cloudy, making it difficult to read the images. You’ll need to have additional imaging done in order for a final assessment to be made. More than likely an ultrasound would be done next or even an MRI. The density that was spotted in your left breast is most likely to be a cyst or a Fibroadenoma, both of which are not cancerous. Your best bet is to try and relax and get some additional imaging done.
